The museum has one of the largest HeathKit collections in the country.
HeathKit manufactured electronics kits from 1947 to 1992. The marketing idea was that by investing the time to assemble a HeathKit kit, the purchasers could build something comparable to a factory-built product at a significantly lower price and, if it malfunctioned, they could repair it themselves. HeathKits often filled a low-end entry-level niche, giving hobbyists access to test equipment and other electronic equipment at an affordable price.
