The IT-1 is a simple device using a transformer on which the secondary windings can be continuously varied from 90 to 130 Volts AC. It isolates the grounds so the chassis being tested is not grounded back to the AC power ground. This is for the safety of the technician to help prevent being electrocuted or shocked.
