5 tube, TRF circuit. Two tuned radio frequency amplifier stages followed by a detector circuit to extract the audio signal. Each stage had to be tuned to the incoming station frequency. This was powerful enough to power a horn speaker. Atwater Kent radios were popular but too expensive for the average household.
