Electronic analog vacuum-tube computers were used to design, test and run civilian and military equipment like aircraft, ships or rockets. The EC-1 was "programmed" using patch cords between the various components. Heath estimated that assembly time was between 25 to 30 hours depending on the experience of the builder.
