Manufacturer: Weston
Model Number: 30
Serial #: 1307
Equipment Description: Telegraph Relay
Label Write-up:
Telegraph relays amplify an electrical signal on the telegraph line. Telegraph messages travel as a series of electrical pulses (Morse code) through a wire from the sender to the destination.
The pulses fade in strength as they travel through the wire, limiting the distance a message can be sent. Relays remedy that problem by detecting a fading signal and re-transmitting it with a fresh power source to the next relay location on the line.
